Ricardo Rodriguez Cosme
Ricardo Rodriguez Cosme is an artist born and raised in Valencia, Spain, with a background in the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage. He furthered his education at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Naples. He began his career at the Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno and later worked at Christie's in Madrid, gaining insights into the secondary art market. In 2017, he had a successful solo exhibition in Milan curated by Riccardo Pozzoli, which prompted him to open his art studio in Valencia and focus on his art.
Ricardo has participated in numerous exhibitions in Spain and internationally since 2017. His recent series draws inspiration from famous artworks like Gruppo del Laocoonte and Madonna, and he creates these pieces using traditional oil on canvas. His aim is to blend visual, cultural, and historical elements, often juxtaposing classic art with modern advertising imagery to connect old myths and symbols with contemporary visual culture. He seeks to merge Western artistic tradition with contemporary visual culture, emphasizing their shared truth, beauty, and wisdom.
Ricardo's preference for black and white painting on canvas adds a sense of harmony and timelessness to his work. He values classic aesthetics and finds the combination of classic and modern elements intriguing, not only in painting but also in sculpture, architecture, and car design.
